One of the most exciting things about Houston’s music scene is the way it’s evolving. While there will always be the legends and originators who made Houston what it is today, emerging talent are creating new lanes, inventing and reinventing styles, and pushing Houston to the edge. We’ve done our best to select 25 rising stars from Houston bound to make waves in 2016.
Some of the artists listed already have growing fan bases and have made a name for themselves, some are hyped off the internet/social media & a few have fell upon deaf ears. Nevertheless, all of these artists are trying to make their presence known and further solidify their spot in the game. Time will only tell whether these artists will live up to the HYPE.

One of the more lyrically inclined artist on this list.
With his following growing rapidly, Why Jae definitely has the potential for a
breakout year if he can stay consistent on this path.

Rizzoo Rizzoo of TSF has definitely made a name for himself in 2015 with his
#ItzHotSauce mixtape featuring the likes of Lil Uzi, Danny Brown , Maxo Kream & more.
2016 should yield more catchy hooks and plenty of visuals. Itz hot!

Recently verified, lets see if the viral sensation can capitalize and live up to the hype.

 Hirame Clarke emcee, Propain, navigates through the Houston sound with his unconventional approach.
His beats of choice and appreciation of diverse artists/samples enables him to express his inner feelings
& struggles in a commendable manner. While alluding to his Houston roots, Propain dropped an ideal tape
“Against all Odds” and is going on tour starting Jan. 27th.

 5.  Maxo Kream (@MAXOKREAM)Capture

Maxo Kream has definitely established himself as
Houston’s most exciting young rapper by way of being one of
Houston’s least traditionally minded artists.
2016 will be a big year for Maxo if he capitalizes on all opportunities available.

 6. Trill Sammy (@TRILLSAMMYY)Capture

Trill Sammy literally blew up overnight with his catchy internet freestyles which catapulted him to the top. He and Dice Soho linked up and immediately capitalized on his instant publicity and are going on the “Texas Tour” soon. With a recent cosign from Slim Thug, Trill Sammy is slated for a good year in 2016 if he can keep pushing out those hits.

 Houston duo Sauce Walka and Sancho Saucy are
two rappers that without a doubt put Houston back in the limelight.
They made a huge splash year with their In SauceWe Trust tape
and already primed for national success.

 

8. Genesis iver (@GENESISIVER)Capture

Talented artist/rapper Genesis Iver produces an eccentric sound that
encompasses the likes of Erykah Badu infused
with Bryson Tiller.
Check out his project “Book of Genesis” and watch him grow.

9. Le$ (@Settle4Les)Capture

One of the most consistent artists on this list, Le$ has arguably one
of the biggest followings in Houston.
He alongside Jorgey Films have been putting out quality visuals all year long.
His newest tape Steak X Shrimp 2 hosted by DJ Drama & DJ Mr Rogers is
considered by many to be an instant classic.
Let’s see what Le$ has in store for 2016.

 Relatively unknown to the masses Mike Checc hits the streets with some real conscious street music “Very Strange”  “Dirty laundry”. Hopefully we can get some qaulity visuals and a nice project this year for the hip hop lovers. Be sure to check out his soundcloud for more raw lyrics.

 Tedy Andreas gave fans a complete collection of his instrumentals and catchy flows after dropping “Mad Illusions”. This tape along with some quality visuals essentially put him on the radar. Look for next body of work coming in a couple of weeks.

12. Wes Blanco (@WESXBLANCO)Capture

 WesBeBlanco came as suprise in 2015 with His project, “Grease Is The Word”
showcasing his efforts delivering different sounds.  His flow is somewhat effortless and his talent is developing at a fast pace. Stay tuned fore more music in 2016.

13. Doeman (@DOEMANXDYNA)Capture

Doeman produces magnetic & intricate work and gradually continues to progress as an artist.
“O.B.E.” the album drops 2/1/16.  Don’t sleep!! Keep an eye out.

14. Soul of Sherif  (@SOULOFSHERIF)Capture

Houston emcee Soul of Sherif definitely has a different sound and isn’t afraid to express himself. Sherif takes an apparent soulful approach to his music and infuses it with his reality. 2016 should be the year for him to polish his sound and mature as an artist

15. Sosamann (@TheRealYungSosa)Capture0

Sosamann of the TSF collective complements the group very well. Sosa is a key element to the success of the TSF movement and certainly brings a different dynamic and energy to every song he is on. He made a lot of noise with his project Trap Sauce, showcasing his talent as a stand alone artist.
Hopefully in 2016 we can get a few songs with him an Wiz together.

Flicka Da Wrist was obviously one of the biggest songs of last year. Chedda Da Connect looks to capitalize and maintain his buzz as he has been doing songs with the likes on TSF and Kevin Gates. Let’s see is Chedda and Fred on Em can create another nation wide hit in 2016.

T Wayne’s Nasty Freestyle hitting the billboards is something some artists may never feat. With over 100M YouTube views, the nasty freestyle was one of the biggest songs on the internet and in the clubs. T Wayne is now already on tour this year with 300 Ent and is looking to continue his success.

18. Haroldlujah (@HAROLDLUJAH213)Capture

Haroldlujah’sNeva Know” record featuring Sauce Walka was one of the biggest songs in Houston.
With the right producers, we might be getting more hits in 2016.

19. Th3 Reason (@TH3REASONMUSIC)Capture

RNB singer Th3 Reason has been moving under the radar for some time now, dropping seductive hits for the ladies. He has a Torey Lanez type feel but still remains true to his Houston roots. His progression however is very evident and he has quite from visuals dropping real soon.

 Steady grinding! Delorean was apart of Big Krit’s Kritically Acclaimed tour last year.
His Perfect Black” mix tape consists of a lot of southern soul and heavy thought provoking bars.
One of Houston’s finest….easy!!!

Dice has been putting in work for some time now and is now getting the recognition he deserves.
He just recently Released a solid organic body of work in “0 degrees”
and his will be going on the Texas Tour alongside Trill Sammy soon!
2016 will be the year for him to solidify himself as an artist.

Amber London gives you rap that is influenced from the likes of S.U.C., UGK and Dj Screw, while still producing a style stemmed from the 90’s hip hop era. She exudes an attitude and presence that screams “authentic”. I’m not sure if being low key is a good or bad thing but nevertheless, we still have our eyes on Amber London.

XO on the beat aka GO DJ XO is one of the more premier producers in Texas working with the likes of Kevin Gates, Gucci Mane, Bun B and more. He has now decided to take his talents to the artistry side and released a nice project last year, “XO like The Drug: Reloaded”. Off the Lot was one of the biggest songs and is getting plenty of radio play. Hopefully he can stay consistent in 2016.

 Coming from Missouri City, Dee Byrd of FOE G4NG has
been making waves on the internet with his hard hitting freestyles and also shows his conscious side with the F*ck the Cops record. If he can put together a solid body of work and release quality visuals, 2016 will be a good year for him.

 Houston native by way of Louisiana, King Hendricks has been putting in work in the streets, connecting/networking with various artists. His music represents his truth and struggle. New music and visuals on the way!
