Jamaica, Queens native Ronny Fieg continues to showcase why he is a fashion and business mastermind. Growing up, Fieg would see his sister getting laughed at in school for wearing “city clothes”, being that she had a job in the city. Fieg would later receive the same critique when he began wearing working in the city. “At age 13,14 I started wearing like royal suede Wallabees, and New Balances, and Queens was like a little late to the game with that, but Queens also had it’s own style that I would bring to the city whenever I would go out.” Fieg started off as a Stock-boy at the age of 13, working for his second cousin David Zaken, at “David Z” a New York City shoe store founded in 1983 by David Zaken. While working at David Z, Fieg would bring in various athletic footwear brands.Fieg knew what looked good and had an eye for original silhouettes. One of these brands happened to be Asics and later down the line, Fieg got the opportunity to put his own twist on any of Asics old silhouettes. Fieg has collaborated with various other brands such as Adidas, Converse, New Balance, Polo Ralph Lauren, Puma, etc.
Fieg on Growing up in Queens
“It was the most important time in my life, just hearing things for the first times, seeing things for the first time and learning, just like being a sponge.”
KITH x adidas Terrex “EEA” collection launches on March 30 at all KITH shops and kith.com.
“This release isn’t meant to be a lay-up. It’s not meant to take the easy route. It’s meant to push our aesthetic into new grounds and show the functional aspect of what Kith stands for. My personal Journal for Kith EEA is now live on the blog so that you can see the product through my lens and understand the purpose.”
