Travis Scott Keeps Promise And Brings Back Astroworld; Houston Mayor Rewards Him With His Own Day!

If Travis Scott didn’t do anything this weekend, he proved to be a man of his word. On “Stargazing,” track 1 of his platinum-selling album, he told us he’d bring back Astroworld, and Scott kept his promise. On November 17, for one day only, tens of thousands of fans filled the NRG Park and got a chance to experience or re-experience Astroworld at Travis Scott’s inaugural Astroworld Fest.

The festival, which sold out before the before the line-up was announced, included performances from Young Thug, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Trippie Redd, Rae Sremmurd, Metro Boomin, Gunna, Sheck Wes, Smokepurpp, Tommy Genesis, Virgil Abloh and a few Houston All-Stars.

On, “Stargazing,” when the beat switches, Travis informed us about what happened Houston’s once renowned theme park and told us what he’s going to do.

“99, took AstroWorld, it had to relocate. Told the dogs I’d bring it back, it was a seal of faith.”

Travis Scott, from Houston’s Missouri City, really brought back Astroworld. The park that closed in 2005 -after the original AstroWorld was shut down before the Six Flags purchase in 1999-, was back. La Flame’s festival was a literally real-life theme park. Along with a bevy of star-studded concerts, fans had the option of being amused by other attractions such as carousels, roller coasters, fun games, and festival food.

Travis’ set was nothing short of astronomical. While fans starred center stage raging for the arrival of La Flame, he comes on the mic with an auto-tuned voice repeating, “I’m behind you.” Fans enthusiastically did an about-face, and the show began. Not only did Travis perform many hits, new and old, but he rode a roller coaster during his set, and brought out surprise guest Nav.

The day after, Scott continued doing good deeds. His next stop was City Hall where he encouraged students to “work on their future.”

As a result of the Astroworld Fest and the philanthropy of Travis, Houston’s Mayor Sylvester Turner named Nov. 18 “Astroworld Day.”

It’s no telling what will happen in Houston every Nov.18, but I know for sure Cactus Jack fans worldwide will have that date circled on their calendars, in hopes of another Astroworld Fest.
